Just done this predictor thing and there could be some cracking last 16 games

Got these
Uruguay v Spain
France v Argentina
Brazil v Mexico
England v Senegal
Portugal v Egypt
Croatia v Denmark
Germany v Switzerland
Poland v Belgium

Top half looks stronger than bottom half perhaps second in Englands group is better than winning it

Cheers for the reminder, need to sack my insignificant other.

BBC will be broadcasting it in 4K if you can clock the difference. I can't.

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
Not sure they will win it but will Neymar/Jesus/ Coutinho/ and Firmino; Brazil will score goals.

Brazil favourites? Blimey

I saw bbc & itv announced their pundit lists a while back. Anyone got them?
My recollection was that itv was better

I’d be happy with anyone other than France or Germany winning it.

But embarrassing how those two countries along with the likes of Spain can consistently and constantly nurture and produce absolute world class players, while we with all our resources are always miles behind.

Sane not in the Germany squad

Mental

I'd hate France, Germany or Argentina winning it.

After England I'd like Belgium to win. But practically I'd like Brazil as long as the nasty 3 I mentioned don't win it.

All a bit third-arsed by Senegal, Mexico, Portugal, Argentina and Switzerland - you need 3 West Ham players for us to win it for you...

In Sane.

Some great film/docs on the History Channel at the mo... superb one about 1990 Turin with Lineker , Butcher and Parker going back and reliving the tournament... Schillachi has aged bloody well I can tell ya

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
Sane doesn't even make Germany's squad.

He'd be comfortably in our first 11, I think.

and some absolute rubbish!! "7 goals that shook the world" was awful.

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
Germany must have some squad to leave Sane out.
Yet we actually play the likes of Rashford and Henderson. The difference in quality is enormous.

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
as shit as that documentary was - one thing stuck with me. German fella who scored in '82 and '86 (finals i think) talked about the German mentality............... kids are taught to win. sport becomes fun when you become good at it and win.
he'd forgotten about his goal in '82 because they lost and he doesnt want to remember losing.

winning is absolutely everything to them.

Is it cos he is black?

Henderson continues to be a mystery to me.
Utterly average, in my opinion.

Sadly we are well short in that position and the game on Saturday showed that we actually missed him.

Tragic really.

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
True.

I suppose at least he runs around a lot. It's sad that he's supposedly the best we can produce.

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
Just had a quick browse at the squads and fuck me it worries me about our squad

We are the ONLY squad to take 10 defenders !

Most take between 6-8

We have just 5 midfielders, 2 of which are Henderson and Dier

Those stats there tell you all you need to know about our fucking chances

Where is the creativity in our midfield ?

Beggars belief

Re: Official 2018 World Cup Thread
0-0's all the way to the Cup...

Next time, every emulates England, and everything's decided on penalties.

Time after that, they just have penalty shoot outs, and don't bother with the 90mins/120mins, to avoid the boring bits.
